Connect Stripe to Receive Payments

Learn how to set up Stripe and start accepting payments.

3 min read

Accepting payments on IndieStand is handled through Stripe, a trusted global payment processor used by millions of creators and businesses. Stripe lets you receive credit card payments securely, stay compliant with financial regulations, and control your payouts directly from your own Stripe Dashboard.

IndieStand uses Stripe Connect (Standard), which means:

  • Money from customer payments is sent directly to your Stripe account
  • Payouts (to your bank account) are fully handled by Stripe, not IndieStand
  • You keep full control of your financial data, tax forms, and settings
  • IndieStand never holds your funds

This setup protects creators, simplifies compliance, and ensures fast & reliable payouts.

1. Start the Connection

Head to App → Store → Payment Processing.

You’ll see a card showing your current connection status:

Click Connect Stripe to begin.

This takes you to Stripe’s secure onboarding flow, where you’ll either connect an existing Stripe account or create a brand-new one.

2. Go Through Stripe’s Onboarding

After clicking “Connect,” you’ll be redirected to a screen like this:

Stripe will guide you through a short verification process where you’ll:

  • Confirm your email
  • Enter basic business or creator details
  • Add payout information (bank account or debit card)
  • Verify your identity (KYC)

This process typically takes just a few minutes.

Connecting an Existing Stripe Account

If you already have a Stripe account, Stripe will show it in the list.
Select it and click Connect.

Creating a New Stripe Account

If you're new to Stripe, choose Create a new account.
You’ll be asked for some information including:

  • Country
  • Full name
  • Business/creator type (individual, sole proprietor, company, etc.)
  • Phone number
  • Bank account details

Stripe uses this information to comply with financial regulations and handle your payouts.

3. How IndieStand Uses Stripe (Direct Charges)

IndieStand configures Stripe Connect to use the Direct Charges model.

This means:

  • When a customer buys your product, the charge is made on your Stripe account, not IndieStand's
  • Stripe automatically deducts its own processing fees
  • The remaining funds belong entirely to you
  • You view all transactions directly in the Stripe Dashboard
  • You control payouts, tax reporting, and financial details

IndieStand does not hold your money, delay payouts, or act as a merchant-of-record.
We're simply the storefront — Stripe is your payment processor.

This gives you:

  • Full ownership of your revenue
  • Immediate visibility into payments
  • Compliance handled by Stripe
  • Zero platform fees from IndieStand

4. Finish and Return to IndieStand

When onboarding is complete, Stripe redirects you back to IndieStand.
